We love to hear and share your success
stories. Our patients are our inspiration.
My weight has been something I have been struggling with for the last 10 to 15 years of my life. I tried numerous diets with only weight returning. I fought with Obesity, Diabetes Type 2, Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Antacid, Chronic Neck Pain, Depression, Fatigue, Shortness of Breath, Abdominal Aneurysm, CPAP (adjusted to highest output) and A1c of 7.9. My medications were: Cymbalta, Omeprazole, Metformin, Losartan, Pravastatin, Pramipexole, Amaryl, Tradjenta, Metoprolol, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Aspirin, Fish Oil and CPAP (adjusted to the highest pressure on the machine).*

On my last trip to my cardiovascular doctor for my regularly Abdominal Aneurysm check, I had to take an ultrasound of the Aneurysm. They just about had to stand on top of me and force a lot of pressure on my abdominal area to find readings. This was very painful. When I met with the doctor I told him what I was feeling. I was tired of the pain, my way of life, my obesity, shortest of breath and all my medications. At that time I was thinking of doing a Lap Band to try to lose weight. He told me that a Lap Band wouldn’t do me justice. What he recommended was a Sleeve Gastrectomy. I was told that it should get me off a lot of my medications and I would lose weight. He recommended me to see Dr. Rachel Moore and to have a consultation on what procedure would do me the best.
In my first visit (consultation) with Dr. Moore, I was very impressed by the length of time it took for her to explain to me the procedure that would be best and how it was to be done and to reassure me it was for my best of health. Dr. Moore also explained to me what to expect after surgery.
I had to go through a six step Medical Clearance prior to general anesthesia & planned Bariatric Surgery. 1st was a Psychologist evaluation, 2nd was a supervised diet and exercise needs, 3rd was a Pulmonary clearance, 4th was a Cardiology clearance, 5th was Blood work up and the 6th was a Medical Clearance from my primary care Physician. I really thought this was a lot of over kill. Why do I have to go through all of this for surgery, but I told myself Dr. Moore was the doctor and it was the insurance company that wanted all this done to approve the surgery. I also had a consultation with my Pain Management doctor about this surgery because of being on Oxycodone & Oxycontin. Dr. Moore would only prescribe the pain medication of Oxycodone that I was using at this time. My pain management doctor told me not to be alarmed if my Chronic Neck Pain didn’t stop. She didn’t think by losing weight, it would really relieve my neck pain but was hopeful it would.
This testimonial is getting longer by the minute but please read on. This will make your life better, by feeling great and healthier.
I had a one night stay in the hospital after the surgery. The next day I went home with very little pain. Within the next couple of weeks I started losing weight. Every time I went in for a checkup after surgery, Dr. Moore and her entire staff treated me like family.
Within six months my medication was cut: Omeprazole, Metformin, Pravastatin, Oxycodone and Oxycontin, NO MORE!! I couldn’t believe my Chronic Neck Pain had disappeared. I started cutting back on my Oxycodone and Oxycontin and by the time I met with my pain management doctor I was completely off of those medications. She couldn’t believe that my neck pain was gone. I am also completely off my CPAP machine. I don’t have to sleep with it anymore and that feels GREAT and my A1c is 5.7 now.
September 3, 2015 was my first year anniversary and I feel great. My quality of life is 100% better and my kids say I’m the Energizer Bunny, I never slow down. I went from between 265 to 275 lbs., to 193 lbs. I feel like a man again. I went on vacation at South Padre Island, Texas and went riding horses on the beach with my wife and it felt great. A few years ago I tried to ride horses in Tennessee but they had a weight limit and I couldn’t ride. Very EMBARRASSING! I’ve been doing more things with my wife now and it is terrific. If I would have known it could be like this ten or fifteen years ago, I would have had the surgery then.
I advise anyone who has Obesity, Diabetes Type 2, Fatigue and Shortness of Breath to have a consultation with Dr. Rachel Moore. I am sixty seven years old and Dr. Moore is one of the best doctors that I have ever been to. I am not getting paid for this Testimonial. I am writing this because my quality of life is the best it has been in a long, long time and I owe it to DR. RACHEL MOORE!

I'm 5 years out from my surgery and have never looked back. My only regret was that I didn't have the surgery sooner.
