Enrolling now! Research Study
The LAP-BAND® System is a Gastric Band procedure that has been proven safe and effective in the treatment of obesity. Gastric Banding works by restricting the amount of food a patient can eat at one time. This is achieved by surgical placement of a band around the stomach, which creates a small pouch in the upper portion of the stomach. Digestion is slowed, and patients feel full longer with less food.
The LAP-BAND® Lower Body Mass Index Study
Dr. Rachel Moore is a participating physician in a clinical research study in place to determine the safety and effectiveness of The LAP-BAND® Advanced Platform System in people with lower obesity, defined as having a Body Mass Index between 30 and 40. The study aims to evaluate patients who receive LAP-BAND® after their procedure to analyze the number of patients who have the device removed within 5 years. It also will measure the percentage of body mass lost after LAP-BAND® surgery, and the effect of the procedure on patients with Diabetes.
Prospective participants must have a BMI between 30 and 40 and at least one obesity related medical condition. Participants must be 18 years of age or older, and cannot have had prior bariatric surgery.
